Although ASIA barely qualifies as Hard Rock and are definitely NOT Metal they do hold a special place in my heart. They are the very first band I remember being talked of excitedly as a SUPERGROUP when I was but a wee high school sophomore. I went right out and bought their debut album as soon as I’d mowed enough lawns to afford the $4.99 LP. Honestly, I don’t remember how much I paid but I bet I’m pretty close.
I really liked ASIA‘s first album and played it quite a bit back in those days. I also played along to Carl Palmer a lot because he was regarded as one of the world’s top drummers at the time.
After hearing their newest single today I’m reminded of why I liked ASIA so much back then. They are easy to listen to and sound clean as a whistle. Smooth like a fine bourbon. It’s rock and roll with a finesse that you just don’t hear anymore.
I, for one, am glad that ASIA is back and I really like the new song.
I think you might too.
